Who Should Get the Flu Vaccine?
Flu vaccination is recommended for everyone aged 6 months and older. It is especially important for people at higher risk of complications from the flu, including:
✅ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
✅ Children aged 6 months to under 5 years
✅ Pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy
✅ Adults aged 65 years and older
✅ People aged 6 months and over with medical conditions that increase the risk of severe flu, such as:
Cardiac disease
Chronic respiratory conditions
Immunocompromising conditions
Haematological disorders
Chronic metabolic disorders
Chronic kidney disease
Chronic neurological conditions
Long-term aspirin therapy in children aged 5 to 10 years
Free Flu Vaccines Under the National Immunisation Program (NIP)
If you fall into one of the eligible higher-risk groups, you may be entitled to a free flu vaccine under the National Immunisation Program (NIP).
